Professor of paediatrics, MD Hans Bisgaard has unexpectedly and far too soon passed away aged 67 after a long and impressive research career.

In 2002, Hans established a translational research center – the COpenhagen Prospective Studies on Asthma in Childhood (COPSAC) – where clinical and basic researchers collaborated, long before it became the norm elsewhere. Here Hans also established the COPSAC cohorts with 1,111 families and children. Hans had great respect for the families who dedicated themselves to research, which he often talked about.


Hans will be remembered as a pioneer in his field of research, where he has made a huge difference for children with asthma and has moved the field of scientific research forward.
