For children from 2 years 10 months to 6 years old. The structure is based on the multi-age principle that children of different ages share the same classroom and work at their own pace. At the end of preschool, they will be able to integrate any school system, whether it is in Denmark or abroad.

It is a comprehensive educational approach based on the observation of children’s needs. Montessori assures that there is maximum independent learning and exploration by the child. Under the guidance of a trained teacher, children learn by making discoveries with the materials, cultivating concentration, motivation, self-discipline, and a love of learning. This builds self-confidence, inner discipline, a sense of self-worth and instils positive social behaviour.

Our preschools offer tuition in English. We sometimes sing songs in Danish and we also celebrate birthdays by singing the birthday song in as many languages as we know (depending on the nationalities of the children who are attending the preschool). On average we have between 12 and 20 languages spoken by both children and staff. This exposes the children to different languages from a young age which will allow them to develop their communication skills as well as their acceptance and curiosity for people from different backgrounds.

The preschool emphasizes recycling and efficient use of energy supplies. The practice of automatic recycling of materials and reduced waste is essential for the overall organisation.

Children and staff are from many different backgrounds and cover a wide diversity of cultures, religions and nationalities. The children learn about celebrations and customs from different countries, especially the ones represented by the children’s families and the staff. The Neo-Humanist education system is based on and dedicated to the holistic growth development of children throughout their educational years.

From an early age, it encourages the child to feel love and respect for all, regardless of culture, race, religion or nationality and to extend this love and respect to animals, plants and the environment.

The Neo-Humanist curriculum aims to foster the individual development of all aspects of a child’s being: their physical body and senses, emotions, intellect, creativity and finally spiritual development. This is achieved through acknowledgment of the child’s inner strengths and beauty, the use of positive language, and a focus on community service and interaction with nature.

Climbing tools, toys, reading material, plant nurseries or something else are added to the Sunrise house every year.

The school provides a healthy and nutritious hot vegetarian lunch as well as equally healthy snacks and fruits in the mornings and afternoons.

The aim of the Sunrise activities, is to strengthen the children’s skills and personality and helping them to become valuable citizens of tomorrow.

A few such themes could be winter, space, earth, plants, animals, myself, my family, traffic and cultures of the world. These themes are incorporated in the daily life of the students through projects, books, counting, writing, singing etc.

Public transportation brings us to see theater, music, walk in nature or learn dancing moves outside of the premises. The world is big and full of fun and things to learn.
